Functional Elegance: Kitchen and Bathroom Design
These are the hardest-working rooms in your house. I design them to handle daily life while feeling like a retreat, blending durable materials with smart, efficient layouts.
This bathroom design makes a bold statement with red travertine marble walls. The rich color and natural pattern of the stone create a dramatic and luxurious feel, turning a functional space into a unique design feature.
To maximize space and create a clean look in this bathroom, I used a sliding partition. The design features a vessel sink on a floating counter and silver travertine marble, giving it a modern and sophisticated feel.

High ceilings can make even a smaller space like a bathroom feel grand and airy. Here, I used a wooden grid on the ceiling to add warmth and architectural interest, while also allowing for integrated lighting.
About Functional Elegance: Kitchens & Bathrooms
People often ignore the ceiling in bathrooms, but in projects like the ones here, I use wooden grids to hide exhaust ducts while adding warmth to the room. It is a small detail, but it changes the entire feel, turning a standard wet area into a space that feels like a private spa.
Beyond Just Tiles
A kitchen or bathroom renovation is not just about picking pretty tiles. It is about flow, storage, and material durability. I focus on creating layouts that actually work for you in the morning rush.
The Material Choice
In the projects showcased here, I used travertine marble. It brings a unique, earthy texture that is hard to replicate with standard ceramic. It is durable, handles moisture well, and ages gracefully if maintained. Whether you are leaning towards a dramatic red travertine or a subtle silver finish, the key is balancing the stone with simple, clean decor to ensure the room does not feel cluttered.
Practical Details That Matter
- Smart Partitions: Using glass sliding partitions keeps the water contained while keeping the room feeling open and bright.
- Lighting & Ventilation: I prioritize high ceilings and integrated lighting, which are essential for making small bathrooms feel airy rather than boxed in.
- Functional Storage: Every cabinet and vanity is planned based on what you actually need to store, not just what looks good in a brochure.
