About Beautiful Blondes & Highlights
Getting a seamless blonde look like an Airtouch balayage requires both patience and precision. I always start with a clear assessment of your hair history because I would rather take a gradual approach than risk hair health with a single, harsh bleaching session. If your hair is already dry or previously colored, we will discuss a plan to reach your desired lightness in stages.
Finding Your Perfect Shade
Choosing the right blonde is about balancing your skin tone with the right level of maintenance. Beige blonde is fantastic for a soft, neutral look that grows out gracefully. Ash blonde, while trendy, requires more frequent toner refresh sessions to keep those cool tones from turning brassy. If you prefer low maintenance, I often recommend a caramel or honey balayage where the roots stay darker.
The Techniques We Use
I prefer using the Airtouch technique for balayage because it creates a super soft, seamless blend. This method removes the shorter hairs before lightening, which results in a much smoother transition from your natural root to the highlighted ends. For a more classic look, I use traditional foiling, which is great if you want high-impact brightness or if we are refreshing specific face-framing 'money pieces'.
Hair Health First
Coloring is a chemical process, so I am very selective about the products I use. Before we commit to any color, we need to ensure your hair is strong enough to handle it. If your hair is currently damaged, I might suggest a few rounds of protein treatment or hair botox before we even touch the bleach. My goal is to make sure you walk out with shiny, bouncy hair, not just a trendy color.
Maintenance Reality Check
Blonde is not a 'set it and forget it' service. You should be prepared to use color-safe shampoos at home and come back to the studio for glossing or toning treatments every 8 to 12 weeks. This prevents the color from fading into unwanted yellow or orange tones and keeps your hair looking as fresh as the day you left the salon.
