My Training Philosophy: Honouring Your Dog's True Nature
Stop blaming the breed and start understanding the animal. My training approach in Bangalore focuses on clear communication, structure, and respect for your dog's nature, not just correcting behavior.
We are not owners, we are guardians. My philosophy is about being a "Kahu," a protector and steward for your dog. This means understanding their nature and leading them, not trying to possess or humanize them.
The modern "snowflake mentality" is harming dogs. We need to treat them as the pristine animals they are, not as babies. A fit, working dog is a happy dog; an overweight, coddled dog is not.
It's twisted that giving a dog a job is seen as cruel, but letting them become obese and diabetic is fine. We must push back and treat dogs like dogs.
Your dog is not a baby. It is an apex predator that deserves to be treated like a dog. Humanizing them creates preventable behavioral problems.
People treating their dogs like children is ruining them. They are dogs, and they deserve the respect of being treated as such.
Let's honour dogs for the magnificent, majestic, and intelligent creatures they are. Stop killing them with kindness and treat them for what they are. Honour your dog.
Dogs are the best animals on the planet. Let's start honouring them by understanding their true nature and needs.
Dog training isn't about showing off to the world. It's about proving to your dog that you are a capable and trustworthy leader for him. It's always about the dog.
About My Training Philosophy: Honour The Dog
Most training failures happen because we treat dogs like human children rather than the apex predators they are. If you want a real relationship, you have to stop the coddling and start providing the structure, boundaries, and leadership your dog craves. When you change your mindset, the dog follows.
My philosophy is rooted in the concept of a Kahu—a guardian who protects and guides, rather than an owner who merely possesses. Many clients come to my Bellahalli facility frustrated because they have been trying to negotiate with their dogs, bribing them for basic obedience, or anthropomorphizing natural predatory behaviors.
The Problem with Humanization
We live in a culture that mistakes coddling for love. If you treat a dog like a baby, you are not protecting it; you are setting it up for failure. A dog is a magnificent, intelligent animal with distinct instincts. When we ignore those instincts, we create anxiety, aggression, and confusion. My training isn't about breaking the dog. It is about proving to your dog that you are a reliable leader worth following.
Structure as Kindness
Structure is the foundation of freedom. A dog that knows the rules is a dog that can relax. Whether I am working with a shelter rescue with trauma, a high-drive protection dog, or a pet suffering from severe reactivity, the path to balance is the same:
- Leadership: You must be the one making the decisions, not the dog.
- Communication: We use clear, consistent markers so the dog understands exactly what is required.
- Real-world Exposure: Training does not happen in a vacuum. We practice in environments with distractions, traffic, and other dogs to ensure reliability.
When you bring your dog to me, you aren't just dropping off a pet to learn tricks. You are starting a partnership. I will teach you the language your dog speaks, but your commitment to maintaining that structure at home is what makes the change permanent.
