Behind the Scenes: Hair Transplant Surgery Process

Transparency is at the heart of my practice. Here is a look at the precision, tools, and team coordination that go into every hair restoration procedure at my Mumbai clinic.

This is where the art and science of hair restoration meet. Performing an FUE procedure requires immense focus and dedication. I see each surgery as a disciplined craft, or 'sādhanam', aimed at achieving the best possible outcome for my patient.

My team and I working together under the surgical light. A successful hair transplant is a team effort, requiring coordination and a shared commitment to quality and patient care. This state of harmony and joy in our work is what I call 'Ānanda'.

This video shows the initial stages of a procedure, including marking the hairline and preparing the patient. Every step is carefully planned and executed to ensure the final result aligns with the patient's goals and looks natural from every angle.

This black and white montage captures the intensity and precision of the surgical process. From the extraction of individual follicles to their careful implantation, every movement is deliberate. It is a craft that I have honed over many years.

About this collection

I strictly limit my procedures to 3000 grafts per day over a 6 to 9 hour window. Rushing a transplant compromises the survival of the grafts and the quality of the final result. Using 3.5x to 5x surgical loupes, my team and I monitor the angle and depth of every single follicle placement to ensure the hair grows exactly as nature intended.

The Science Behind the Results

Surgery is not just a medical procedure, it is a disciplined craft. To achieve the natural look I advocate for, the process begins long before the first incision.

Precision Instrumentation I exclusively use Sapphire FUE blades. Unlike standard steel blades, sapphire allows for finer, more precise incisions. This results in minimal tissue trauma, which is why my patients often experience faster healing times and less post-operative swelling. By keeping the incision size small, we maintain the integrity of the scalp tissue, which is vital for high-density packing.

Preserving Graft Viability One of the most overlooked aspects of a transplant is what happens to the grafts between extraction and implantation. Once harvested, follicles are placed in a chilled, hypothermosol-type custodial solution. This environment ensures the grafts remain viable for up to 6 hours, significantly increasing their chances of successful survival once implanted.

The Human Element My team at the clinic is my family. Hair restoration is a collaborative effort, not a solo act. Whether it is sorting follicles for the front transition zone or managing anesthesia, every team member understands that our goal is not just hair coverage, but long-term satisfaction. We create a relaxed environment in the operating theatre, complete with music and breaks, because a calm patient experience is just as important as the clinical outcome.

This is my sādhanam. It is about the rhythm of the work, the focus, and the commitment to getting it right the first time, ensuring that when you look in the mirror, you see yourself.

I approach surgery as a craft, not just a medical job. When you are in my operating theatre, my team and I are focused entirely on the details—from hairline design to graft angle—giving your procedure the same level of care and attention I would offer my own family.
