Pichwai and Traditional Indian Mural Art
I bring timeless Indian heritage into modern living spaces with hand-painted Pichwai murals, 3D relief art, and gold-leaf details tailored to your home.
This piece combines the traditional Pichwai style with a modern relief technique. The cow, calf, and lotuses are sculpted to stand out from the surface, creating a beautiful 3D effect that adds depth and character to the artwork.
A foyer or entryway is the perfect place to make a statement. I painted this traditional Pichwai scene within an arched niche, using the architecture to frame the art and create a warm, inviting welcome.
This wall mural captures the serene beauty of Pichwai art. The composition, featuring cows amidst lotus pads under a soft spotlight, creates a peaceful and divine atmosphere in the room.
A tribute to the grandeur of the Mysuru Dasara festival. I created this intricate line art illustration using gold foil on a dark background to capture the royal procession in a minimalist yet striking style.
Here, I combined a textured wall finish with painted elements to create a unique look. The lotus stems appear to grow up the wall, leading to a central, framed Pichwai painting that acts as the focal point.
This circular Pichwai canvas is a perfect example of how traditional art can fit into a contemporary home. The defined boundary and classic subject matter make it an elegant and versatile piece for any empty wall.
About Pichwai & Traditional Indian Art
I often get asked if these traditional styles fit modern apartments. The answer is yes, because we adapt the scale and palette to your specific room. Whether it is a feature wall in your foyer or a circular canvas for your living area, I use high-durability Royale emulsions that stand up to daily life while keeping the colours vibrant.
Pichwai paintings have a way of anchoring a room, but they do not have to look like museum pieces. When I work on a wall, I look at your natural light and existing furniture to make sure the traditional motifs feel like they belong there. My process starts with a digital mockup where we superimpose the design on your actual wall, so you know exactly how the scale works before a brush touches the surface.
We offer three main ways to bring this heritage style home:
- Hand-painted walls: We use Royale emulsions for a semi-gloss, durable finish that handles Indian humidity without fading.
- 3D Relief Murals: We build texture using clay or specialized compounds before painting, giving the cows and lotus motifs a physical presence that catches light.
- Gold Foil Accents: For that regal touch, similar to our Mysuru Dasara pieces, we layer imitation gold leaf to make the art glow under accent lighting.
Since my mother and I handle everything, from design to the final protective varnish coat, we can usually finish a feature wall in a few days. If you are worried about maintenance, these murals are finished with a clear varnish that makes them easy to wipe down. Whether it is a small foyer arch or a full living room feature, let us chat about what fits your space.
