The biggest misconception about hiring a DJ is that it is just about playing a playlist. When you see me behind the console, you will notice I am constantly watching the crowd to see if they are vibing or need a change in tempo. Whether it is a slow start at a Sangeet or a peak-hour dance floor, I adjust the mix instantly. If the mood dips, I step in with a quick bit of shayari or a live interaction to bring the energy back up because, frankly, keeping the party moving is a skill, not just a button press.
I have been behind the decks since 2004, and if there is one thing I have learned, it is that no two crowds are the same. A corporate event in Delhi demands a different touch compared to a high-energy Sangeet in Jaipur. My approach to every gig is open format, meaning I blend 90s Bollywood classics, modern Punjabi hits, and techno beats based entirely on who is standing in front of me.
It is not just about the music. For many of my sets, I act as an MC, using the mic to hype up the crowd. You will see me engaging with guests directly, or even hopping off the console to join the dance. When you hire me, you are getting more than a playlist; you are getting a host who knows how to control the room.
For those who want more, I often combine my DJ sets with live percussionists or my band, Desi Beats India. This adds a layer of improvisation that a standard recorded set cannot touch. Whether it is a dhol player matching the bass or a vocalist covering your favorite tracks, this hybrid setup turns a standard party into a live show. Always remember, the sound system is usually handled by the venue, so I focus on the console, the mixing, and the live interaction that keeps your guests dancing until the lights come on.
