About this collection
It is not just about hitting play, it is about reading a sea of people. When I am on a festival stage, I coordinate live percussionists like dhol or djembe players to layer over the tracks, turning every set into a live performance that keeps the energy peaking throughout the day.
Festivals are a totally different beast compared to club sets. In a club, I am playing to the room. In a festival, I am playing to a massive, open field where the energy can disperse if you do not keep it tight. My festival sets are high-intensity experiences. I mix fast transitions with higher BPM tracks to ensure the dance floor stays packed even in the heat.
A huge part of this is the live percussion. I always bring a dedicated percussionist, whether it is djembe or dhol, because that organic sound hits differently when you have a crowd of thousands in front of you. I also work closely with technical teams on the ground. When you have CO2 cannons, confetti, and huge LED walls, timing is everything. My job is to make sure the audio drops sync perfectly with the SFX to give the crowd that rush they came for.
