Behind the Scenes: Our Custom Design Process
Step inside our studio to see how your outfit goes from a sketch to reality. It is all about the hands that stitch, bead, and drape with heart.
Watch my team bring two distinct looks to life. This is where the magic happens, as we drape, pin, and perfect each garment on the mannequin before the first fitting.
The process begins with the fabric. I believe in using materials that feel as good as they look, from soft, luxurious silks to intricately textured textiles for our jackets and shirts.
In this interview, I share my philosophy on fashion: it's all about your personal style. I also talk about my journey, my team, and how we work together to create every collection.
About The Art of the Karigar: Our Process
When you see our work on a hanger, it is just fabric. But when you come to the studio, you will see how we drape every piece on a mannequin first. We pin, adjust, and perfect the silhouette in real-time, long before the first stitch is finalized. This is how we ensure that when you wear it, it feels like it was always meant for you.
How We Stitch Your Story
I often say that an outfit is more than just fabric. At our studios in South Delhi and beyond, my team of artisans—the Masterji, the embroiderers, and every person who cuts the thread—treats every garment as an individual project. We do not use assembly lines.
From Sketch to First Fitting
The process starts with a conversation. We want to know what you are celebrating and what makes you feel like yourself. Once we understand your vision, my team sketches the look. We move from these sketches to constructing the actual piece. For our hand-embroidered gowns and fusion lehengas, we build the structure first, ensuring the fall and volume are correct before adding the heavy surface work.
The Importance of the Fitting
I believe the fitting is the most critical part of the process. Whether it is a cocktail dress or a three-piece fusion ensemble, we account for movement. We want you to be comfortable, not just look good. During your sessions, we test the garment on your body to ensure there is no gaping, the hemline is precise for your heels, and the structural supports like boning or cups sit exactly where they should.
Our Collective Effort
There is no boss here. When you see the intricate beadwork on a cocktail outfit or the geometric patterns on a lehenga, you are seeing the result of a team that works for each other. Our Masterji often reminds us that things made by hand have a different energy. We take pride in that energy, and we look forward to bringing that same focus to your next outfit.
