My Interior Design Process and Practical Home Styling Tips
Design is more than just choosing furniture; it is about planning a space that works for you. Here is a look at how I turn ideas into homes and simple tips to style your own.
I believe designing a home is about more than just aesthetics; it's about creating a space that nurtures your well-being. This video shows a glimpse into my process, from initial sketches to digital plans, all centered around the client's lifestyle.
Here is a quick look at how a hand-drawn sketch evolves into a detailed 3D visualization on my laptop. This process allows my clients to fully understand the layout and feel of their space before any physical work begins.
This animated fly-through of a 3D floor plan is a key tool I use in my design consultancy. It helps clients visualize the entire home's layout, flow, and furniture placement from a top-down perspective.
Ever wondered why you should hire an interior designer? In this video, I use a few analogies to explain the value I bring, acting as your project's director, navigator, and personal trainer to achieve your dream home.
This before-and-after shows the incredible impact of a well-designed lighting plan. By adding creative, flowing LED profile lights in the ceiling, a simple hallway is transformed into a dynamic and visually interesting architectural feature.
As part of my festive decor series, this video offers tips on using lighting to create a special ambiance. I discuss various options beyond simple string lights, such as lanterns, floor lamps, and statement pendants.
In this educational video, I share my tips for styling a coffee table to create a chic and cozy focal point in your living room. I demonstrate how to use trays, candles, and flowers to create a balanced and beautiful arrangement.
Choosing the right color palette is fundamental to any design. Here, I talk about different color combinations for festive decor, from vibrant reds and golds to elegant blues and silvers, to help you find a palette that suits your style.
The entryway makes the first impression. This video gives you three simple ways to elevate your entrance for a festive season, using elements like a traditional toran, fairy lights, and a colorful rangoli.
The finish of your doors can significantly impact your home's style. I explain five different material options here, including the natural warmth of veneer and teak, the sleek look of PU paint, and the durability of laminate.
About My Design Process & Tips
I use 3D visualization and detailed floor plans as the foundation for every project. This isn't just for show; it allows us to test layouts, lighting effects, and material combinations before a single brick is laid, saving you time and preventing costly rework on site.
How We Bring Your Vision to Life
Designing a home can feel overwhelming, but it becomes much simpler when you have a clear roadmap. My process is built around two things: listening to how you live and using 3D renders to remove the guesswork.
1. The Initial Consultation We start with a conversation about your lifestyle. Do you need a home office that shuts out the noise, or a kitchen that handles heavy daily cooking? I don't just ask about colors; I ask about habits.
2. Planning & Visualization Once we have a layout, I create detailed 3D visuals. This is the stage where we finalize everything—from the position of your electrical points to the exact shade of your wall paint. Seeing your future home before construction begins gives you the confidence to move forward without second-guessing your decisions.
3. Execution & Styling Whether we are working on a full turnkey renovation or just a room makeover, I act as your project director. I coordinate the contractors, manage the material quality, and ensure the final finish matches the initial design.
Simple Tips to Style Your Own Space
- Lighting is everything: Don't rely on just one overhead light. Use a mix of ambient and task lighting to create layers. Profile LED lights in ceilings or a statement pendant can change the entire mood of a hallway.
- Sofa Styling: If you want your living room to feel balanced, start with a sofa that fits the room, not just the trend. Use cushions and throws to add texture and color without overwhelming the space.
- First Impressions: Your entryway sets the tone for your home. Simple additions like a toran or a well-placed floor lamp can make your entrance feel welcoming the moment you step inside.
If you are feeling stuck or just want a professional eye on your renovation, I offer online consultations to help you plan your space from anywhere.
