Community Cat Sterilization and TNR Program in Bangalore
Manage cat populations humanely with our professional Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. We provide safe, subsidized, and scientifically proven medical care for Bangalore's street cats.
It takes a village. This is the story of how we partnered with kind-hearted community caregivers in a Bangalore slum to sterilize their beloved community cats. Our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program is a collaborative effort, empowering animal lovers to give the cats in their area a healthier, happier future.
This is what "not cruel" looks like. These community cats are resting safely after their neutering surgery. By preventing overpopulation, we stop the cycle of homelessness, disease, and starvation. This simple act is one of the kindest things we can do for them.
This collage shows the impact of our cat sterilization program. With the help of community caregivers, we sterilized 890 cats in the first half of 2025 alone, preventing thousands of kittens from being born onto the streets.
890 kitties sterilized by mid-July! This number represents a massive reduction in future suffering. Every single surgery was made possible by a cat lover who took the initiative to bring a community cat to our center.
This is what happens when a community of cat lovers is empowered. In June, their efforts led to 130 community cats being spayed and neutered, directly reducing suffering and preventing homelessness.
Ever wonder what it takes to neuter 100 cats a month? It requires dedicated vets, caring staff, and most importantly, a community of caregivers who trap, transport, and care for the cats before and after surgery.
To date, we have neutered over 5,000 cats through our subsidized sterilization program. This milestone was reached one cat, one caregiver, and one community at a time.
About this collection
Our TNR program relies on community participation to succeed. You identify the cats and handle the trapping and transport—we offer equipment rentals to make this easier—while our medical team takes over for the surgery, vaccination, and recovery. This collaborative approach ensures that every cat receives the necessary medical attention before returning to their home territory safely.
Why TNR Matters
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the only humane, effective method for stabilizing street cat populations. It stops the cycle of uncontrolled breeding, significantly reduces nuisance behaviors like fighting and spraying, and dramatically lowers the transmission of diseases within colonies. We base our work on science, not fear.
Our Process
We follow strict WHO and national standards. Cats over 5 months old are brought to our dedicated center in Jayanagar. We use gas anesthesia to ensure a safer, faster recovery and perform mandatory ear-tipping for easy, visual identification in the field. Every surgery includes pain relief and a rabies vaccination.
Your Role as a Caregiver
You are the frontline of this program. Whether you are a lone feeder or part of a resident welfare association, your role in trapping and post-operative monitoring is crucial.
