Creative & Conceptual Portrait Photography in Bengaluru
Forget standard poses. We build unique themes, from folk-inspired narratives to cinematic fine art, right here in my Bengaluru studio. Let’s capture the story behind your vibe.
A fine art portrait where water and pearls become part of the story. This wet-look concept is about creating something visually poetic and unconventional, pushing the boundaries of a standard beauty shot.
Capturing a moment of pure bliss. For this shot, we used a rain machine in the studio to create this dramatic and emotive portrait. It’s a perfect example of how we can build a unique set for any concept.
A different angle from our wet-look series, focusing on the artistic placement of the pearl-adorned hair strands. The upward gaze and soft lighting add a dreamy, ethereal quality to the image.
A powerful conceptual portrait. The use of red-painted hands, or 'alta', frames the face, creating a visually arresting image that is rich with cultural symbolism and artistic expression.
Another perspective from the painted hands series. This pose creates a sense of mystery and draws the viewer's eye, making them curious about the story behind the image.
Recreating the iconic Gangubai look was a passion project. We built a set that reflects the film's aesthetic and directed the model to capture the character's strength and vulnerability, resulting in a powerful cinematic narrative.
The opening shot of our Rajasthani folk-inspired series. The intense gaze and traditional attire immediately set a narrative tone, inviting the viewer into a story of hope and longing.
This cinematic reel brings our 'desi girl' folk story to life. The use of a lantern for lighting, combined with the model's dance-like movements, creates a warm, nostalgic, and deeply cultural video portrait.
A 'Kanmani' moment. This conceptual shot uses a mirror to create a story of self-reflection and femininity. The soft, dreamy lighting and traditional setting add to the poetic feel of the portrait.
An Egyptian-inspired conceptual portrait. We used a custom-painted desert backdrop and a unique light gobo to create the halo effect, transforming the studio into a mythical landscape.
About Creative & Conceptual Art
The biggest difference between a regular shoot and a conceptual one is the environment we create together. When you book a creative session, we don’t just stand in front of a plain wall. We select a theme—whether it’s a wet-look editorial or a traditional folk narrative—and build the lighting and backdrop to match that specific mood. This ensures the final images feel like a frame from a film rather than a simple snapshot.
My Approach to Conceptual Photography
I view my studio not just as a space, but as a blank canvas. Whether you want to explore fine art photography or something a little hatke (different), my process starts long before the camera comes out.
We collaborate on the concept during the planning phase. If you have a specific vision, like a desert-inspired set or a dramatic, moody lighting aesthetic, we storyboard it. I rely on cinematic lighting techniques using RGB gels and snoots to manipulate shadows, giving your portraits depth and drama that raw daylight often misses.
Why the Studio Matters
With over 400+ custom backdrops and setups at my Jnana Ganga Nagar studio, we can simulate almost any environment without needing to travel. This is crucial for conceptual work. If the theme is traditional, we can bring in props and textures that ground the image in reality. If it’s high-fashion editorial, we use seamless paper and focused modifiers to mimic professional magazine shoots.
Collaboration is Key
I rarely work alone on these projects. I encourage bringing in professional makeup artists and stylists who understand your vision. I focus on the photography and creative direction, ensuring the posing and expressions feel authentic to you, while the team handles the intricate details of your look. This team-based approach is how we elevate a simple portrait into a storytelling piece.
Technical Delivery
Every conceptual shoot is backed by professional retouching. I focus on skin texture retention and careful color grading to ensure the final edits look high-end but still look like you. You will receive your high-resolution signature edits within 7 to 10 working days, ready for print or your professional portfolio.
