About Bharatanatyam Training & Mentorship
My Approach to Bharatanatyam
For me, Bharatanatyam is not just dance - it’s prayer, philosophy, and a way to connect with our roots. I see training as a journey we take together. It’s never just a class; it’s about finding your own voice through movement and rhythm.
Guru-Shishya Parampara
Here, learning is built on the guru-shishya parampara mentorship. I’m not just a teacher, I’m your Akka (elder sister) - guiding you personally, supporting you inside and outside the studio. It’s a bond of trust and respect. Your growth matters to me, and I’m there for you at every step.
What We Explore
My teaching mixes tradition with a touch of modern thinking. Expect a lot of physical work, but also inner reflection.
- Strong focus on abhinaya expression techniques - you’ll learn to tell stories using subtle gestures and deep feeling.
- Discipline is key. We practice hard, but that’s where freedom comes.
- We dive into classical dance storytelling - ancient poetry, devotional literature, sometimes even theatre.
The Arangetram Journey
Arangetram preparation guidance is a big part of what I offer. It’s a milestone for every dancer. We work through the nerves and excitement together. Seeing students shine on stage is what makes this all worth it.
