Rooftop Terrace Makeovers
Bored of looking at an empty cement slab? Let's turn your rooftop into a private getaway with custom pergolas, comfy seating, and greenery that survives Delhi summers.
A look at the final stages of a rooftop project in New Delhi for a happy client. This space features a modern black pergola over a wooden deck, built-in white seating with integrated lighting, and a mix of real and artificial plants.
This is a complete walkthrough of a terrace I designed to be an absolute showstopper. It features distinct zones for lounging and relaxing, combining soft artificial grass with stylish hardscaping and a peaceful Buddha water feature.
This top-down 3D render shows how I plan a complete terrace layout. You can see the different zones I designed, including a glass-covered seating area, an open-air lounge, vertical green walls, and a mix of turf and tile flooring.
A 3D design concept for a modern terrace dining area. The plan includes a sleek pergola, a comfortable dining set, and integrated lighting within the flooring and planters to create a sophisticated ambiance for evening meals.
This 3D visualization shows a minimalist and modern terrace design at dusk. The focus is on clean lines, with built-in planter boxes, low hedges, and subtle wall-mounted lights that create a warm and inviting glow.
Another view from the same modern terrace design, this time highlighting the entrance under a slatted roof structure. This shows how I use architectural elements to define spaces and create a seamless flow from indoors to outdoors.
About Rooftop Terrace Makeovers
Before we start any civil work, I offer a free site visit to create a 2D or 3D layout of your terrace. This helps us decide exactly where to place the pergola for maximum shade and how to map out the planter zones so the space feels open instead of crowded, rather than guessing once the materials are already on-site.
Turning a rooftop into a functional outdoor living room is about more than just adding a few pots. In Delhi-NCR, we deal with intense sun and varying wind loads, so the design has to be practical.
My Approach to Terrace Design
When I design a terrace, I focus on three pillars: structural integrity, utility, and maintenance.
- Pergolas & Hardscaping: I don't just put up a structure. We look at the orientation of your terrace to ensure the pergola provides shade where you actually sit. We use MS frameworks and weather-proof paints to make sure it handles the monsoon and heat.
- Weight Management: Rooftops have load limits. I use lightweight alternatives like cinder-based soil mixes for larger plants and shrubs, ensuring you get the lush look without putting unnecessary stress on your building's slab.
- Low Maintenance: If you don't have time to water daily, I suggest artificial grass combined with strategic 'green zones'. This keeps the space looking clean, vibrant, and ready to use, regardless of the season.
The Process
- Site Visit: I come over to check your terrace size, sunlight patterns, and current water drainage.
- Planning: You get a 2D or 3D design to visualize the seating, the green walls, and the pathways.
- Execution: My team handles everything—from installing the turf and lighting to mounting the pergola and irrigation systems.
Whether you want a quiet corner for morning coffee or a space to host evening gatherings, we make it happen.
