Your home's personality is in the details. I help you navigate the latest 2025 trends, choose smart lighting, and pick finishing touches that make a space feel truly yours. Let’s make it stylish, not stressful.

Get ready for 2025 with these upcoming interior design trends. We're seeing a rise in biophilic designs that connect us with nature, as well as a continued love for clean, all-white interiors that feel calm and timeless.

Here are four design choices that are becoming outdated in 2025. I'm moving away from crowded false ceilings and bulky skirting boards in favor of cleaner, more integrated and minimalist solutions.

If you think brown is an outdated color, let me show you five modern ways to bring it back in style. It's all about texture and smart pairings.

One way to use brown is with textured limeplaster walls. This creates a warm, earthy, and incredibly chic look, especially in a minimalist bathroom.

Corduroy is another fantastic way to bring in brown. A corduroy sofa adds instant texture, warmth, and a touch of retro style to a living room.

A checkered pattern is a timeless way to use brown. Brown and cream checkered floors in a kitchen feel classic yet fresh and add a lot of personality.

Zellige tiles, with their handmade texture and subtle color variations, are a beautiful way to incorporate brown. They add a layer of quiet luxury to this bathroom vanity backsplash.

A terracotta lamp is a perfect brown accent piece. Its earthy material and sculptural form can add an artistic, warm touch to any corner.

Good lighting is essential in a bathroom. This video covers the top five bathroom lighting trends, from sleek recessed spotlights for a minimal look to elegant wall sconces that add a touch of luxury.

If you don't like the look of a false ceiling, there are many other great lighting options. I often use track lighting for flexibility, recessed lights for a clean look, or beautiful pendant lights as a statement piece.

About Styling, Trends & Finishing Touches

Most people focus on the big pieces like sofas and beds, but the real impact often comes from the finishing touches you usually overlook. I always tell my clients to rethink the small elements—like switching out bulky, builder-grade fans for modern, retractable alternatives or replacing standard plastic switchboards with clean, minimalist designs. These tiny details change the entire mood of a room, and they are the easiest way to make a space feel personal and intentional without a massive renovation budget.

Design is not just about the final reveal; it is about the conscious decisions you make throughout the planning phase. Whether you are prepping for a 2025 home update or just looking for subtle refreshes, focusing on details like lighting temperature, material textures, and layout efficiency is key to a cohesive home.

Lighting Beyond False Ceilings

You do not need a heavy false ceiling to make a room look good. Track lighting provides flexibility, while wall washers or recessed spots add depth without cluttering the ceiling. It is all about finding the right wattage—aim for warm LED tones—to match the room's function. Brighter is necessary for workspaces, but softer is better for lounging.

Texture and Color

Brown is making a strong comeback, but it is not the same dark, heavy brown from the past. When we use it today, we focus on texture—think lime plaster walls, corduroy sofas, or checkered floor patterns in the kitchen. It brings a grounded, earthy warmth that is difficult to replicate with just paint.

Practical Details

  • Switches & Electricals: The aesthetic of your switchboard matters. Modern, flat-panel switches blend into the wall and look far cleaner than traditional plastic ones.
  • Window Treatments: If you want a minimalist vibe, consider Roman blinds or vertical blinds. They offer cleaner lines and significantly better light control than heavy curtains.
  • Vastu Considerations: Even in simple styling, energy matters. I always check your primary light sources and seating orientation to ensure a positive flow in your space.

If you are unsure where to start, we can look at your space together. I focus on practical layouts and smart design choices that last, rather than just chasing trends that fade.
