Simple Skincare Routine: My Science-Based CTMP Philosophy
I don't believe in elaborate ten-step routines. My approach is simple: Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize, and Protect. Let's ditch the hype and focus on what your skin actually needs.
The CTMP routine is the foundation of my skincare philosophy. This simple four-step process of Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize, and Protect is all you need for healthy skin.
You do not need a ten-step routine for good skin. I explain my simple three-part approach: cleanse, protect, and repair, making daily skincare manageable and effective.
Do you really need to use every trending product like hyaluronic acid, retinol, and vitamin C? In this video, I explain why less is often more and why you should use only what your specific skin needs.
The common advice to "rub and scrub" your skin is a myth that can cause damage and pigmentation. I explain why you should avoid loofahs and harsh scrubs for healthier skin.
This infographic explains why you should never attempt a chemical peel at home. These procedures require a trained professional to assess your skin and prevent potential damage like burns or hyperpigmentation.
Why should you consult a dermatologist instead of a pharmacist for skin issues? This video explains the specialized training dermatologists undergo to diagnose and treat over 3,000 conditions of the skin, hair, and nails.
A quick but important tip on the correct order of applying skincare products. Sunscreen should always be the last layer you apply before any makeup.
I fully support the #StopTheBeautyTest campaign. It is important to focus on healthy skin, not an unrealistic standard of "flawless" or "fair" skin, especially for young individuals.
Many people know smoking causes cancer, but are you aware of its effects on your appearance? I discuss how smoking accelerates skin aging, causes wrinkles, and contributes to hair loss.
An illustrative guide on how to manage dry, flaky skin, especially during seasonal changes. Simple steps like using lukewarm water and the right moisturizer can make a big difference.
About My Skincare Philosophy: Science, Not Hype
Before you buy another trending serum, look at the basics. Most skin issues stem from over-complicating your routine rather than neglecting it. I focus on the CTMP framework—Cleanse, Treat, Moisturize, Protect—because it addresses the root cause of issues like pigmentation or acne without dumping a dozen chemicals on your face. My goal is to simplify, not overwhelm.
The Science of Less
Social media makes skincare feel like a chore. You see influencers preaching ten-step routines, but your skin doesn't need a dozen products to stay healthy. In fact, layering too many actives can damage your skin barrier and cause more problems than it solves.
My CTMP Framework
I teach my patients in Basavanagudi to follow a four-step cycle:
- Cleanse: Use a cleanser suited to your specific skin type. No harsh scrubbing with loofahs, which only causes friction and pigmentation.
- Treat: This is where we address your specific concerns, whether it is acne, pigmentation, or texture, using evidence-based solutions.
- Moisturize: Protect your skin barrier from environmental damage. If your skin is oily, you might just need a light, gel-based moisturizer.
- Protect: Sunscreen is non-negotiable. It is the final layer that keeps all our work from being undone by UV radiation.
Why Trust Science Over Trends
At my clinic, we use tools like the Dermlite 5 for magnification to see what is happening beneath the surface. When you come in for a consultation, we don't guess. We map your skin, look at your history, and design a pharmacy-based plan. Whether you are dealing with seasonal dryness or long-term acne scarring, we focus on consistent, long-term results rather than overnight miracles. Stop guessing with your skin and start following a routine backed by medical dermatology.
