Safety First: Professional Outdoor Training & Gear
Before we rappel, we train. My philosophy is simple: no shortcut is worth your safety, so we prioritize professional gear and medical-grade rescue training for every student.
Unpacking brand new gear from Edelrid. I only use top-quality, German-engineered equipment, from ropes and harnesses to descenders. Your safety depends on it.
I'm demonstrating infant CPR during a Basic Life Support course. Being prepared for any emergency, for any person, is a non-negotiable part of being a guide.
A student practices chest compressions on a CPR dummy. We regularly attend and host first aid courses to keep our skills sharp.
Learning how to properly splint a limb during a first aid workshop. In the wilderness, you are the first responder, and these skills can save a life.
The whole group after completing a Basic Life Support certification course. A trained team is a safe team.
These are 13 pairs of professional canyoning shoes donated by Rich Carlson. We make sure this gear gets to deserving local guides in North East India to improve safety for everyone.
About Safety First: Training & Gear
We do not just 'look' safe. Every trip starts with a briefing where I show you exactly how to handle your own descent. Whether it is learning to splint a limb or understanding the stress test on a German-engineered carabiner, you will know how your gear works before you ever touch a cliff face. We treat the wilderness with respect, and that begins with knowing how to be a first responder yourself.
Adventure is fun, but the danger is real. When we are deep in a Himalayan slot canyon or navigating Wayanad caves, you cannot just wait for help. That is why I demand that everyone on my team, and every student who takes our courses, understands the basics of wilderness first aid.
We collaborate with medical professionals to certify our groups in Basic Life Support (BLS). You will learn CPR, how to treat fractures, and how to manage the 'golden hour' when emergencies happen far from a hospital.
My gear standards are non-negotiable. I exclusively use professional-grade equipment like Edelrid ropes, harnesses, and descenders. You will learn the difference between generic hardware and UIAA-certified equipment, why maintenance matters, and how to inspect your own gear for wear.
We also believe in paying it forward. We actively donate professional canyoning shoes and safety equipment to local guides in the North East, ensuring that our philosophy of safety isn't just limited to our paying students, but extends to the entire community of outdoor professionals. If you are looking for a trip where you just follow the leader, look elsewhere. If you want to learn how to move through the wild, handle your own equipment, and act as a competent partner on the trail, you are in the right place.
Bascool
I am the one screaming 'Legs, not the hip' when you are on the wall, because your form is your safety. I believe that if you cannot be a first responder, you should not be in the wild. I teach to empower you, not just to lead you.
