About this collection
When designing your TV unit, I prioritize both visual impact and the reality of daily storage needs in Bangalore homes. I use 18mm BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) plywood for all load-bearing structures and exclusively use soft-close telescopic channels from brands like Hettich or Ebco to ensure the unit handles daily wear without rattling or alignment issues.
Your TV unit is usually the focal point of the living room, so it needs to do more than just hold a screen. I focus on layouts that balance open display shelves for decor with closed, handle-less cabinets to keep the clutter of remotes and cables hidden.
My design process includes:
- Material Selection: For units requiring longevity, I recommend BWR plywood over standard boards. It resists moisture, which is critical given Bangalore's climate.
- Modern Finishes: I frequently use a combination of WPC fluted louvers and UV marble sheets. These materials provide a high-end look without the weight and cost of natural stone or solid wood.
- Lighting Integration: Concealed COB or LED strip lighting in aluminum profiles is built into the design, not just stuck on as an afterthought. This provides subtle ambient light that defines the living room mood in the evening.
- Space Optimization: If you are living in a compact apartment, I avoid bulky, floor-to-ceiling boxes. I prefer floating consoles that keep floor space visible, which tricks the eye into seeing more room. If you have a larger space, I can integrate full-wall paneling that incorporates your TV unit, crockery display, and storage into one seamless structure.
