Signature Traditional Mehndi Designs by Ashok
Timeless henna patterns featuring classic peacocks, lotuses, and elephants, crafted with precision for your special occasions.
This Rakshabandhan design features a pair of elegant peacocks facing each other on the palm. I use fine lines and detailed patterns to create a sense of symmetry and grace, perfect for festive occasions.
A classic single peacock motif is a timeless choice. Here, the peacock is the centerpiece of the palm, surrounded by intricate jaal (net) and floral patterns on the fingers and wrist.
This design showcases two of my favorite traditional motifs: the royal elephant and the graceful peacock. The hands feature different but complementary patterns, a popular choice for guests at weddings.
Here you can see two distinct, intricate designs side-by-side. One hand features a detailed elephant within a traditional frame, while the other showcases a large, flowing peacock design.
The lotus is a symbol of purity and beauty, making it a very popular choice for mehndi. This design features a pattern of bold lotus motifs across the palm, with the name "Harsh" subtly integrated into the finger design.
This video shows the step-by-step process of creating a lotus mandala. I start with the central lotus and build outwards with delicate petals and fills, creating a perfectly symmetrical and beautiful design.
Watch how I sketch and fill a peacock motif using a henna cone on paper. This practice helps me perfect my flow and detail, ensuring every peacock I draw on a client's hand is neat and beautiful.
This video captures the application of a large, paisley-shaped design filled with peacock and lotus elements. You can see how I use the cone to create different textures and shades within the same pattern.
This unique design combines a majestic peacock on the palm with an architectural dome, reminiscent of a temple or palace, on the wrist. It's a beautiful blend of nature and traditional Indian architecture.
About Signature Traditional Motifs
I approach every traditional motif—whether it is a peacock or a lotus—by focusing on the balance between shading and line work. Rather than rushing, I spend time ensuring the henna paste is applied at the right consistency so that the 'jaal' or net patterns remain crisp, which is key to getting that deep, dark stain everyone wants for festivals and weddings.
Traditional mehndi is about the details that have stood the test of time. When I draw a peacock, I am not just creating an outline; I am layering the feathers with fine-line shading and adding 'jhumka' (hanging bell) elements to give it depth and movement. These are the patterns that look beautiful in photographs and stay relevant long after the occasion is over.
Why Choose Traditional Motifs
- Classic Symmetry: Peacock and elephant motifs offer a structured, symmetrical look that works well for both hands.
- Customization: Even within traditional designs, I can hide initials or small personal details without breaking the flow of the art.
- Versatility: These designs are suitable for everything from Rakshabandhan and Teej to family weddings in Delhi NCR.
My Process
I work with natural, essential-oil infused henna. For these traditional styles, I use specific nib sizes to ensure the lines are bold enough to be distinct but fine enough to show the 'jaal' work clearly. Whether you are in Pitampura or anywhere else in Delhi NCR, I travel to you with fresh cones. If you have a specific religious symbol or a traditional element in mind, let me know when we book, and I will incorporate it into the design.
