Industry Recognition and Award-Winning Fashion Work
Looking back at 30 years of costume design, industry honors, and the stories behind the characters we have built on screen.
I was deeply honored to receive the Character Tree Award, acknowledging my 30 years of work in the Hindi film industry. It is a privilege to have my contribution to character creation and fashion recognized.
Thank you to Society Magazine for featuring me as a 'Legend & Achiever'. It's a wonderful feeling to have my body of work and my journey as a designer showcased in this way.
About In The Spotlight
It is humbling to look back at these awards, but for me, they are not about trophies on a shelf. They are markers of a 30-year grind, the late nights on set, and the effort to make sure every actor looks like the character they are playing, not just a star. Recognitions like the Character Tree Award remind me that the hard work—the exhausting days and the relentless search for the right fabric—actually resonates with people.
Awards and features in publications like Society Magazine are nice, but they are just highlights of a very long journey. When I started, it was just me and my cycle, dreaming of seeing the world. Today, my work takes me from Mumbai to London, but the core remains the same: it is about the fabric, the cut, and the story.
Whether it is designing for a big-budget Bollywood film or helping a bride find her dream outfit, I approach it with the same intensity. That 'Character Tree' recognition really meant a lot because it acknowledged that my work is about creating identity, not just covering the body. It validated the times I sat in bars for 'Chandni Bar' to get the vibe right, or the crazy hours spent ensuring a mesh top or a cuff earring looked perfect for a scene.
My studio in Khar West is where all this happens. If you are looking for someone to help you build your wardrobe with the same attention to detail I give to my film projects, come over. We can discuss your style, upcycling your old favorites, or designing something entirely new. Getting the look right, whether for the silver screen or your wedding day, outfit change toh banta hai!
