My Gurukul series brings ancient Indian wisdom to life through large-scale acrylic paintings. These custom pieces are designed to anchor wellness centers and homes with historical depth and peace.

Every big dream starts with a single line. Here is the beginning of the 6x7 feet 'Gurukul' painting, as I sketch the entire composition onto the blank canvas, setting the foundation for the story to unfold.

Watch as the world of the Gurukul takes shape. In this stage, I am working on the background elements, painting the lush trees, the humble huts, and the gentle animals that complete the serene environment.

A close-up on bringing a student's face to life. Capturing the focused, receptive expression of a disciple is key to the painting's narrative. This is where realism meets emotion.

More progress on the students' portraits. Each face is unique, and I spend a lot of time ensuring their expressions reflect the atmosphere of learning and respect in the presence of their guru.

Here, I am detailing the saffron robes of the young monks. The way the fabric drapes and catches the light is important for creating a sense of realism and form for each figure.

The figures of the students are nearing completion. You can see how the layers of acrylic paint build up to create depth and lifelike skin tones, making them feel present in the scene.

An in-progress shot where you can see the contrast between the sketched outlines and the fully painted figures. The scene is coming together, with the students attentively listening to their teacher.

A detailed look at the completed faces of the disciples. Their expressions of concentration and reverence are central to the story of this painting, showing the value of ancient knowledge.

The painting is almost complete. At this stage, I add final highlights and shadows to bring all the elements together, ensuring the composition is balanced and harmonious.

The final step for every commission. Once the painting is complete and approved, I carefully roll the large canvas for safe transport and delivery to its new home, ready to be framed.

About Ayurveda Series: The Gurukul Tradition

Since these are large-scale commissions, I start by helping you visualize the scale on your specific wall with a digital overlay before we begin. I paint on high-quality, primed cotton canvas, which I ship rolled in a sturdy PVC pipe so your local carpenter can stretch and frame it to fit your space perfectly.

Bringing the Gurukul tradition to life requires more than just painting techniques. For these large pieces, I immerse myself in historical research, ensuring the period-accurate clothing, ancient instruments, and the natural setting of the forest ashram look authentic. Whether you are commissioning a 6x7 ft masterpiece for an Ayurvedic clinic or a smaller 3x4 ft piece for a living room, my process remains the same. I build the scene layer by layer, sketching the Acharya and students to ensure the narrative flow works before I commit to the final acrylic layers. Because these artworks are often destined for healing spaces like hospitals or wellness centers, I prioritize capturing expressions of reverence and concentration. I deliver these as rolled canvases, which is the safest way to transport such massive work. You will need to coordinate with a local framer to mount them, but I am happy to guide you on the best mounting options to preserve the acrylic finish. If you have a specific scene or historic figure you want depicted, DM me. I will make it for you with full dedication.
