Playing open-air festivals requires adapting to the environment, not just the crowd. I always travel with my own Pioneer-formatted USBs and custom backups to ensure zero silence, regardless of the humidity or technical setup at the venue. It is about being fully prepared so the flow never breaks, no matter where the stage is.
Open-air parties and music festivals in Bangalore require a different approach than a standard club gig. You are dealing with shifting temperatures, the transition from a relaxed sunset to a high-energy night, and open sound spaces. My approach to festivals like the ones at High Ultra Lounge or the jungle-themed nights at Pebble is built on this versatility.
I typically start with Afro and Organic house to ease the crowd in during the golden hour, keeping the BPM steady at 118-122. As the sun sets and the atmosphere changes, I shift into Progressive and Melodic Techno. This musical arc is essential for open-air sets. It is not just about playing tracks; it is about managing the energy in a space where the crowd is more spread out than in a small club booth.
For these events, I bring my own V-Moda or Sennheiser gear and formatted drives. I play strictly on industry-standard Pioneer equipment to ensure the sound quality stays crisp and punchy. Whether it is a massive two-stage festival, a rooftop party, or an intimate jungle rave, the goal remains the same: a seamless journey from the first beat to the last drop.
