Agility and Fitness Training for Dogs
A tired dog is a disciplined dog. I use outdoor agility and active road sessions to help your dog burn off excess energy and build focus that lasts anywhere.
Training should also be fun. We use agility exercises like jumps to build confidence, improve physical fitness, and strengthen the bond between you and your dog.
Group runs are a great way to work on both fitness and pack socialization. The dogs learn to move together calmly, even in a distracting outdoor environment.
About Agility & Fitness
Agility is not just for show dogs. When I have a dog navigate an obstacle or run alongside me on the road, I am actually teaching them to lock their focus on me despite distractions. This is how we build discipline outside the home, where it matters most.
Beyond the Basics
Most people think of training as sitting on a mat in a living room. But a dog that only listens at home will ignore you the moment you step outside. That is why my training philosophy centers on activity. Whether we are in the open fields of Chikkabanavara or working on road heeling, I get dogs moving to burn off energy. A dog with pent-up energy is a dog that will not listen.
Why Agility Matters for Focus
I use agility exercises like jumps and obstacles to do two things at once: provide physical exercise and demand mental engagement. When a dog is focused on jumping or navigating a course, they are not distracted by the traffic, other dogs, or noises. They are locked into me. This builds confidence in shy dogs and provides an outlet for the high-energy breeds I train daily.
Training in Real Environments
I do not rely on sterile classroom settings. We train on roads and in open dirt fields because that is where you actually walk your dog.
- Real-world heeling: We work on walking calmly on busy roads.
- Recall under pressure: Your dog learns to come to you even when there are squirrels or other dogs around.
- Endurance: We burn calories, which translates to a calmer dog when you get back home.
