Stories Woven into Walls: A Collection of Heritage Design
Welcome to my creative playground. This collection brings together my favorite design stories—from Mughal-inspired patterns to Bengal's kantha stitches—reimagined to turn your house into a soulful home.
This hand-illustrated horse mural, set against a deep maroon textured backdrop, was created to be the heart of an elegant entryway. The design blends traditional motifs with a modern sensibility, creating a piece of understated luxury that welcomes you home.
Witness the transformation as a plain double-height wall becomes a canvas for elegance. This before-and-after showcases the installation of a custom embroidered cherry blossom wallpaper, adding texture, depth, and serene beauty to the living space.
For the Nivah heritage property in Moradabad, I designed this wallpaper inspired by intricate Mughal jaali patterns. The golden motifs on the walls create a sense of quiet luxury, perfectly complementing the arched doorways and classic furniture of this historic space.
Let me introduce you to my bespoke tapestries. Each pattern is designed in my studio and then brought to life by the skilled hands of our in-house karigars, transforming fabric into a hand-embroidered masterpiece that adds elegance to your space.
I believe in celebrating the art of 'more'. This bedroom showcases a maximalist approach, layering print on print with a bold, floral wallpaper that envelops the room in color and personality, creating a space that is vibrant and full of life.
The magic is in the details. This video shows the final moments of installing a statement embroidered panel, where printed art meets the tactile beauty of hand embroidery. Each stitch adds a layer of craftsmanship and luxury.
I believe in a hands-on approach for every project. Here I am on-site, overseeing the installation of a custom wallpaper, ensuring every panel aligns perfectly and the final result is exactly as we envisioned.
My art extends beyond walls. This custom credenza, created in collaboration with furniture designers, features artwork inspired by the ancient paintings of the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, turning a functional piece into a historic statement.
Every design begins with a line. This is a glimpse into my digital canvas, where I draw the initial motifs for a new wallpaper, blending traditional inspiration with modern design tools to create something truly unique.
This is a close-up of my Jamawar-inspired Begum Jaal wallpaper in a rich, royal red. The intricate paisley and floral patterns are designed to capture the opulence and grandeur of historic woven robes and shawls.
About Featured
When I translate a textile like kantha or jamawar onto a wall, I am not just printing a pattern. I am working with the texture of the surface, be it matte, canvas, or a metallic finish, to ensure the woven look feels real. The most important decision we make together is the scale and the base texture. A heavy, rich design like my Begum series needs a larger, cleaner wall to breathe, while delicate floral motifs work best in smaller, more intimate spaces. Before we print, I always provide a digital render on your wall photo so you know exactly how the motif hits your switchboards or furniture corners.
My process is rarely linear. It starts with a sketch, a memory, or an old textile that caught my eye. Once the design is ready, we decide on the medium.
Material and Texture
For digital wallpapers, I offer matte, canvas, and feather textures. These are not flat, sterile prints. They have a depth that mimics fabric, which is why I prefer calling them wall-coverings rather than just paper. If you want something that truly feels tactile, we go for hand-embroidered panels. These use real zardozi or aari work on silk or velvet, created by skilled karigars. They are better suited for low-contact areas like headboards or feature panels.
The Technical Side
Good walls make for good art. For my digital wallpapers, please ensure your walls are treated with an oil-based primer at least 10 days before installation. This prevents moisture issues and ensures the adhesive holds for years. We provide the prints, but installation is usually handled by professionals you arrange, though I am always a phone call away to guide the process.
Why This Matters
I don't chase trends. I look for what feels meaningful. Whether it is a mural inspired by the Ajanta caves or a simple jaali pattern for a heritage property in Moradabad, my goal is to give your room a personality. It is about creating a space that feels like it has been gathered over time, not just decorated in a weekend.
