About this collection

When designing for a Royal Indian theme, I prioritize the balance between visual weight and guest comfort. While I use heavy elements like marigold strings, brass diyas, and rich fabrics to establish that classic 'Maharaja' aesthetic, I ensure the sightlines to the stage remain unobstructed. You want your guests to experience the opulence of the decor, but their focus should always be on the ceremony itself, not the backdrop.

Creating a heritage look is about more than just layering gold and red; it is about intentional placement. My approach starts with the foundational structure—usually a solid, grand stage backdrop—and then builds layers of texture.

Why the details matter

In my setups, you will notice specific choices:

  • Brass and Marigolds: I mix the raw, earthy smell of fresh marigolds with the shine of polished brass diyas and urlis. It provides a sensory experience that feels rooted in tradition.
  • Fabric and Texture: For that 'Royal Red' grandeur, I use velvet or heavy silk drapes. These fabrics absorb light and add a richness that lighter synthetics cannot replicate.
  • Lighting: I avoid harsh overhead beams. Instead, I use warm, amber-toned lighting to mimic the glow of a thousand candles, which makes brass elements pop and softens the overall venue look.

Handling the space

Whether you are hosting in a banquet hall in Matunga or an open-air lawn in Lonavala, my team and I adapt the design to the venue's natural architecture. We use ceiling draping or custom floral partitions to break up large, impersonal spaces, making them feel intimate and regal. My focus is on ensuring the decor enhances the venue's existing character rather than overwhelming it. If you have a specific family heirloom or a traditional element you want to include, I love finding ways to integrate that into the core theme, ensuring your wedding feels like a personal chapter of history.

I am Amit. Since 1985, I have been turning venues into rich, traditional landscapes. My approach is to take deep reds, golds, and marigolds and arrange them so they create a feeling of history and warmth, rather than just filling a room with decor.
