Behind the Scenes: Commercial Photography Process
Every stunning image has a story before it becomes a final shot. Here is a glimpse into how I light, style, and capture content for brands and restaurants.
This video breaks down my process for a restaurant catalogue shoot. It shows the journey from "The Setup" with all its styling elements, to "The Shot" through my camera's viewfinder, and finally to "The Image" itself.
A fast-paced recap of some of the incredible food I had the pleasure of shooting in 2023. From dramatic flames to delicious final dishes, this reel is a celebration of the creative energy in my work.
About Behind the Scenes
Commercial photography is rarely just about pressing a shutter button. It is about the deliberate staging, the precise angle of the light, the strategic placement of props, and the constant adjustments to get the texture of the subject exactly right. When we work together, you will see that I approach each shoot with a setup-first mentality, ensuring we capture the raw authenticity of your product before any post-production touches the file.
When you see a final image, you are often looking at the result of hours of collaborative problem-solving. My process starts long before the lens is focused. Whether I am shooting a restaurant menu or a high-end product, I prioritize building a visual narrative that makes sense for your brand identity.
The Setup Matters
Great visuals require preparation. This involves everything from sourcing specific ingredients for a food shoot to choosing the right textures for a product backdrop. I work closely with chefs and brand owners to understand the 'vibe' they want to project. If we are shooting for an aggregator like Swiggy or Zomato, the priority is clarity and appetite appeal. If we are shooting an ad campaign, the focus shifts to mood lighting, gels, and practical effects like steam or splashes.
Why Transparency Helps
I believe in showing the 'how' because it builds trust. You need to know that your photographer understands the technical demands of a commercial shoot. My workflow includes tethered shooting, which allows you to see the images on a laptop screen in real time. This means we can adjust styling, lighting, or composition instantly, rather than hoping for the best after the shoot is over. From Mumbai to London, my goal remains the same: to create imagery that stops the scroll and drives results.
