Understanding Criminal Law: Your Rights and Defense

In this podcast clip, I discuss the misuse of law, referencing recent cases. I explain that even if a lawyer secures an acquittal for a client they know is guilty, the judiciary is strong and judges can often see through the facade.

Crime is a matter of opportunity, but its consequences are devastating. When one person goes to jail, their entire family suffers. I have seen households where the stove doesn't get lit because the breadwinner is behind bars. This is the human cost I see in my criminal law practice.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. I explain this fundamental legal principle with an example: if someone brings marijuana from Canada, where it's legal, to India, where it's not, they are still liable for prosecution. You must know the laws of the land you are in.

The life of a criminal lawyer is challenging and comes with immense pressure. My mother still worries about the risks involved. But this is the reality of a profession where you are dealing with high stakes and people's lives every day.

As a criminal lawyer, you often have to balance complex situations. Defending one person can make you an enemy of another. While there is fear, my love for this profession and the drive to secure justice for my client makes it all worthwhile.
