About Hyperrealistic Nature & Wildlife
When I paint a tiger or a swan, I focus heavily on the eyes and light reflections. This is not just about recreating a photo, it is about making the canvas feel alive. I use high-density acrylic layering to ensure that the texture of fur or feathers has a tangible depth, rather than looking like a flat image. This approach works just as well on a 10-foot clubhouse mural as it does on an 18-inch canvas for your living room.
My process for hyperrealistic art begins with understanding the environment where the piece will live. For the large-scale murals I create, such as the Pili Kula tiger piece, I use industrial-grade acrylics to withstand public or semi-public spaces. For canvas work, I stick to heavy-duty cotton duck canvas stretched on pine wood frames, ensuring the art does not sag or warp over time.
Every painting undergoes a multi-step layering process. I apply a double coat of UV-resistant varnish—either gloss or matte—to protect the pigment from sunlight and humidity, which is crucial for our Mangalore climate.
