Behind the Scenes of Litigation in Delhi Courts

Litigation isn't just high-stakes courtroom drama. It is file management, early mornings, unpredictable court dates, and constant problem-solving. This is the unvarnished reality of my practice in Delhi.

A lesson for all senior lawyers: never trust an intern with your main case file. I am sharing a frustrating but real experience of having to rush back to court at 6 PM to retrieve a file left behind. This is the unglamorous side of a lawyer's life.

This is the reality of a litigator's life. After spending over 20 hours preparing for a cross-examination at Rohini courts, the complainant didn't show up. The case was simply adjourned, but this is part of the grind I handle for my clients every day.

Getting ready for court in the parking lot. The life of a lawyer is always on the move, and my commitment to making a difference is what drives me.

A moment of humor. Here I am, trying to find the 'sukoon' or peace that people said I would find in the chaotic world of litigation.

There are no real days off in this profession. Here I am on leave but still working on my phone to help a client in need. Your case is always a priority.

As a criminal lawyer, I am always observing. Here is a video of a traffic stop I spotted, raising the question of whether the police procedure being followed is legal. It is important to know your rights in every situation.

About The Lawyer Life: Behind the Scenes

You might see the final argument, but you don’t see the 20 hours of prep that can vanish if a complainant doesn't show up at Rohini or Tis Hazari courts. Managing litigation is as much about handling unpredictable procedural delays as it is about knowing the law. Whether it is tracking down a misplaced file or managing expectations when a hearing gets pushed by a month, I don't sugarcoat the process. You deserve to know exactly what is happening with your case, chaos and all.

The popular image of a lawyer is someone standing in a courtroom, delivering a powerful speech. The reality is far less glamorous and far more messy. My work with the Law Chambers of Amish Aggarwala involves a lot of behind-the-scenes effort that doesn't make it into a film.

I handle complex criminal defense, from white-collar PMLA cases to urgent bail applications, and the biggest challenge is rarely the law itself. It is the logistics. It is ensuring every digital file is indexed correctly on my tablet so we don't waste time in front of the judge. It is working with my team to ensure that even if one of us is tied up in a hearing, your case is being prepped.

I am transparent about court realities because I believe trust is built on honesty, not false promises. If the system causes a delay, I will tell you. If we have to work through a weekend to analyze charge sheets, we will. My approach combines technology with old-school persistence to navigate the Delhi court system effectively. You get a direct, unfiltered view of your situation, ensuring you are never left wondering about the status of your defense.

I’m Karan. I didn't get into law for the glamour; I got into it because I actually wanted to help people navigate the legal mess. I spend most of my days in Delhi courts, whether it's Rohini or Tis Hazari, making sure my clients aren't just another file number. I keep it real, avoid the legalese, and always tell you exactly where we stand.
