About Rider's Friday Series: Horsemanship & Knowledge
A horse’s skeletal structure doesn't fully fuse until they are roughly six years old. When you understand this growth pattern, you stop pushing for advanced movements too early and start training your horse for a lifetime of soundness rather than chasing a quick win in the arena.
At Zippy, we believe that to be a great rider, you have to be a horseman first. That is why we started the Rider’s Friday Series. It is not just about the theory; it is about bridging the gap between how a horse thinks, moves, and perceives the world, and how you as a rider can influence that.
We break down the technical side of the sport into bite-sized, actionable knowledge. Whether it is understanding the differences between horse and human vision, learning why horses are obligate nasal breathers, or studying the biomechanics of a collected canter, this series is designed to give you an edge.
Why This Matters for Your Riding
- Better Communication: When you know why a horse acts the way they do, your aids become clearer and softer.
- Improved Welfare: Understanding muscle engagement and bone growth ensures you are training safely and respecting your horse's physical limits.
- Confidence in the Saddle: Knowledge removes the guesswork. Understanding the 'why' behind the 'how' helps you remain calm and effective, especially when tackling show jumping courses or dressage tests in JP Nagar.
This cluster isn't meant to replace your time in the saddle; it is meant to enhance it. We want our riders to be informed, compassionate, and competitive. If you want to dive deeper into these topics or see them in practice, join us for our regular training sessions. We are here to help you turn that curiosity into real-world skill.
Zippy
We are Team Zippy, and we don't just teach you how to ride; we teach you how to think like a horseman. We have built a space in JP Nagar where the horse always comes first, and our coaching reflects that commitment to compassionate, high-performance horsemanship.
