About Traditional Indian & Rajasthani Designs
I prioritize the final stain as much as the initial design, which is why I use only homemade, triple-sifted henna. This ensures that the intricate peacocks and lattice patterns you see here don't just look beautiful when applied, but mature into the deep, rich maroon colour that is the hallmark of a traditional Indian mehndi.
My approach to traditional Indian and Rajasthani mehndi is defined by density and detail. When I create these designs, I focus on the classic motifs that define our culture: peacocks, lotus flowers, elephants, and the complex jaal (net) work that fills the palm.
Unlike modern styles that prioritize open space, these traditional pieces are meant to cover the skin with story-telling patterns. I often incorporate specific elements like the jharokha (window) frame or traditional swastika motifs, which are frequently requested for festive occasions.
Everything you see in this gallery is done with my signature organic henna. I prepare the paste at least 24 hours in advance, mixing it with eucalyptus oil and triple-sifting it to ensure a smooth flow through the cone. This is critical for the fine, delicate lines required in Rajasthani work. When you choose this style, you are not just getting a drawing; you are getting a process that has been refined to ensure the stain lasts, allowing those intricate patterns to stay vibrant for days after your event.
