It is not just about the final design, but the control I maintain while drawing. I use a triple-filtered henna paste that allows me to draw consistent, fine lines without the cone blocking, which is essential for detailed jaali and mandala patterns. When you see me working, you will notice I focus on the pressure of the stroke so the henna stays smooth from start to finish.
Behind Every Line
People often ask how I manage such thin, clean lines for traditional Indian patterns. It comes down to two things: the quality of the henna mix and the consistency of the cone work. I prepare my own natural henna paste, triple-filtering it to ensure there are no lumps that can break the flow of a delicate peacock feather or a complex jharokha window design.
The Process of Perfection
When I apply bridal mehandi, I break the design down into stages. First, I map out the main motifs—the peacocks, lotuses, or portrait figures—to ensure symmetry. Then, I fill in the background with fine jaali work. This layered approach is why my work is often described as 'bahut saf sutra' (very clean). Watching me work also allows you to see how I handle transitions between dense filling and open space, which is critical for making sure the design does not look cluttered.
