Pro Tips for Your Bridal Makeup and Hair
Planning your wedding look is exciting, but also a bit overwhelming. I am sharing my honest, professional advice on everything from skin prep to choosing hairstyles that actually stay put all day.
If you're a 2025 bride, this one's for you. I'm sharing my top tips to keep in mind for your big day, from choosing comfortable jewelry to communicating your makeup preferences with your artist.
Thinking of wearing a braid instead of a bun on your wedding day? Here are a few important things to consider, like the weight of your dupatta and using hair extensions for volume, to make sure the style looks perfect.
About this collection
If you are planning an elaborate braid or open hairstyle, please listen to me: the weight of your dupatta matters more than the hairspray. A heavy dupatta will pull at your scalp and ruin your hairstyle in minutes. Choose lightweight fabrics so you can actually dance and enjoy your events without constantly adjusting your head.
Your wedding day prep should not be stressful. Based on my years working with brides in Delhi, here is what actually works.
Skin Prep is Everything
I say this in every class, but your makeup is only as good as the skin underneath. Stop experimenting with new facials or heavy chemical treatments one week before the wedding. Avoid face waxing right before the big day, as it can cause redness or reactions that are hard to cover. Focus on hydration and keeping your skin clean so that on the wedding day, you get that natural 'shaadi wale din ka noor' instead of a heavy, cakey base.
Choosing Your Hairstyle
If you want a braid or open hair, volume is the secret. If your natural hair is fine, don't be afraid to use extensions to get that full, rich look. Also, always do a trial of your jewelry with your hairstyle. If your heavy matha patti or maang tikka sits uncomfortably, you will be miserable by the time you reach the mandap.
Communication with Your Artist
Always have a clear discussion about your preferences. If you hate heavy lashes or prefer a specific eye style like a cut crease, speak up during the trial. I always tell my clients to bring photos of outfits and jewelry to their makeup trial. Seeing how the colors and textures interact helps us create a look that feels like you, just enhanced.
Advice for Aspiring Artists
To my students and fellow artists, remember that efficiency is key. Learn to use your products wisely so you aren't wasting expensive items. Mastering the basics of skin types is more important than knowing how to do twenty different types of glitter eyes. Build your kit slowly, start with reliable mid-range products, and focus on blending techniques. That is what separates the pros from the rest.
