Public Speaking for Kids: Building Confidence with Nishat
I help children move from shy and hesitant to curious and confident. Through my Little Toastmaster program, I use structured, playful techniques to help your child find their voice and own the stage.
The Little Toastmaster program is a safe space for children to blossom. I help them boost their confidence, face their phobias, and learn to express themselves, growing into strong, good-hearted individuals.
This Christmas-themed fancy dress party included a "walk & talk show" where kids explained their costumes. It's a fun, practical way I incorporate public speaking practice into my events to build confidence.
About The Little Toastmaster: Building Confidence
I don't believe in rigid scripts or forced perfection. In my 8-week Little Toastmaster sessions, we focus on the actual mechanics of speaking—like managing nervous fidgeting, maintaining eye contact, and organizing thoughts—through low-pressure games. We use tools like show-and-tell and impromptu storytelling to normalize mistakes, helping children realize that being heard is more important than being perfect.
The journey to becoming a confident communicator isn't about memorizing speeches. It is about building a foundation of social-emotional safety.
The 8-Week Program Approach
My program is designed to bridge the gap between thinking a thought and expressing it clearly in front of others. We focus on a few key pillars:
- Emotional Safety: Most children struggle with stage fright because they fear judgment. We start by creating a judgment-free zone where vocal stumbles or nervous laughter are treated as part of the process, not as failure.
- Technical Skills: We move into concrete techniques for managing stammering, fidgeting, and pacing. This isn't just about talking louder; it is about body language, tone modulation, and structured thinking.
- Practical Application: Students practice through 'show and tell' sessions, character role-play, and impromptu storytelling challenges. By the end of the term, the goal is for them to feel comfortable holding their own in a room.
Why This Method Works
I keep batch sizes small to ensure every child gets personal feedback on their posture and delivery. Sessions are conducted on Sundays, making them easy to fit into a busy school week, and I include parents in the progress tracking. Whether your child is naturally quiet or just needs help channeling their energy, we work on turning 'I can't' into 'Let me try.'
