Group Chess Classes and Mindfulness Training for Kids
We make chess more than a game. Our group classes in Bangalore combine strategic play with mindfulness exercises to build focus, confidence, and critical thinking in every child.
The focused energy of a full classroom is incredible. This photo captures a typical session at one of our after-school chess programs in Bangalore, with multiple games happening at once. Every student is immersed in their own strategic battle, learning and growing together.
A quiet mind is a powerful tool in chess. We integrate short, guided meditation sessions into our classes to help students improve their concentration and mental stamina, preparing them for the focus required during a challenging game.
About Group Classes & Mindfulness
In our group sessions, we move beyond just moving pieces on a board. We sit on floor mats to ground the students, starting every class with a short meditation to clear their minds. This helps them stay calm when the game gets intense, ensuring they aren't just reacting to moves, but thinking two steps ahead.
Why Group Classes?
Learning chess in a group setting does more than just teach strategy. It builds a social environment where kids learn from each other's mistakes and celebrate shared wins. We keep our batches small (6 to 10 students) to ensure every child gets enough attention while benefiting from the energy of peer learning.
The Mindfulness Edge
Chess is intense, and young minds can easily get overwhelmed. By integrating mindfulness modules, we teach children how to regulate their breathing and maintain focus. This isn't about sitting perfectly still; it's about learning how to calm the noise, which translates directly into better decision-making on the board.
Our 'No-Boring' Approach
We believe chess should never feel like homework. We avoid dry, repetitive theory in favor of:
- Activity-Based Learning: Using physical coordination games to keep energy high.
- Tournament-Standard Gear: Playing on real vinyl boards with Staunton pieces to simulate a competitive environment.
- Regular Exams: Simple, fun assessments so kids can track their progress from piece movement to endgames.
We operate across Bangalore, offering a space where laughter and 'oops' moments are part of the journey toward becoming a strategic thinker.
