Mastering Motorcycle Cornering Techniques on Track
The track is not just about raw speed. It is about how you set up, lean, and exit a corner. Here is how we break down the mechanics of turning at Aruani Grid.
A side profile view of a rider executing a turn, demonstrating the correct tucked-in body posture to minimize drag and maintain stability at speed. This is a fundamental aspect of our motorcycle race training.
Here, a rider is deep into a corner, showcasing a significant lean angle. I guide my students to progressively and safely explore the limits of their bike's grip and their own skill on the track.
This front-quarter view highlights the rider's head and eye position, looking through the turn towards the exit. This is a key technique I emphasize for smooth and fast cornering on the racetrack.
A motion-blurred shot capturing the pure speed and focus of a rider on a straight. While cornering is key, I also teach throttle control and acceleration techniques for maximum performance.
Another look at a rider confidently leaning the bike into a turn at the Aruani Grid. Notice the precise body positioning, which is essential for balance and control during high-speed maneuvers.
This image captures a rider at speed, with their personal best lap time displayed. I focus on measurable improvement, helping you shave seconds off your time through better technique, not just raw power.
A low-angle shot showing a rider's knee almost touching the ground, a technique known as "knee down". I teach this advanced skill with a step-by-step approach, ensuring safety and proper form.

About On The Track: Mastering the Corners
Getting your body position right is not about looking cool; it is about balance and keeping your bike stable through the apex. We start by working on your eye line—where you look is where you go. If you are struggling with tightening up mid-corner or not trusting your grip, that is exactly where we start our training, breaking down the physics of the lean so you can ride with confidence rather than fear.
Beyond the Straight Line
Most riders focus on how fast they can go on a straight, but the race is won or lost in the corners. At Aruani Grid, we use the technical 1.2km circuit to drill the fundamentals of cornering. It is a controlled environment where you can safely push your bike's limits without the unpredictability of road traffic.
Our Approach to Cornering
- The Entry: Everything starts before you even tip the bike in. We focus on your braking markers and body positioning. If your entry is sloppy, your exit will be compromised.
- The Apex: We teach you to hit the clipping point consistently. This is where your bike is at its maximum lean. We help you find the rhythm, not just the speed.
- The Exit: This is where you pick the bike up and get on the throttle. We focus on smooth power delivery to ensure you carry speed into the next section.
Why Practice This With Us?
Whether you are on a small displacement bike or a high-performance machine, the geometry of cornering remains the same. You might be afraid of the lean angle, or perhaps you feel the bike is unstable when you drop your shoulder. We watch from the trackside, identify exactly where your technique breaks down, and give you the feedback to fix it in real-time. We don't believe in just telling you to 'go faster'. We show you how to be precise, safe, and ultimately, faster by default.
