About The Foundation: Drills & Kata
You won't find flashy moves here on day one. We focus on 'Kihon'—the repetitive line drills for punches, blocks, and stances. This is the demanding work that builds genuine capability. If you cannot hold a proper 'Zenkutsu-dachi' (front stance) for two minutes, you are not ready for advanced fighting. We stay here until your body performs the moves without you needing to think.
Martial arts is not about aggression; it is about control. At Tatpar, our curriculum for beginners and intermediate students is built on three pillars: Kihon (basics), Kata (forms), and Kumite (sparring).
Why the Basics Matter
Many students want to jump straight to sparring. We do not allow it. Without understanding distance, weight distribution, and core engagement, sparring is just messy flailing. We spend the first part of every session refining 'Zuki' (punches) and 'Uke' (blocks). You will practice these in front of a mirror, against a partner, and in the air.
The Role of Kata
Kata is not a dance; it is a battle simulation. When you perform a form, you are training against imaginary opponents coming from multiple directions. We teach you to interpret the 'Bunkai' (application) behind every move. You learn why a block is positioned at a specific angle and how that transition leads into a counter-strike.
Our Facility and Approach
- Safety First: We train on 25mm EVA foam mats, reducing the impact on your joints during falls.
- Progression: We track your technical growth through a structured belt system. You will not be graded until you demonstrate the required Kata with speed and power.
- Accessibility: Whether you are 5 or 50, the foundations are the same. We adjust the intensity, but the principles of discipline and focus remain constant.
By the time you reach advanced training, your body will react instinctively. That is the goal of our foundation batches. Practice makes perfect, and we ensure you practice correctly.
