Grow your own fresh city-grown fruits
You don't need a farm to pick your own harvest. From lemons and guavas to starfruit, we help you set up container-based fruit gardens right here in Mumbai.
This video is proof that you can grow tall fruit trees in the city. Our team carefully harvests ripe papayas from a tree growing in a large pot on a client's high-rise balcony.

It's always a delight to see exotic fruits like this starfruit ripening in a client's terrace garden. We help select and plant fruit trees that are well-suited for pot culture.

About City-Grown Fruits
The biggest mistake most people make with fruit trees in pots is skimping on container size or drainage. For a lemon or chikoo tree to actually produce, you need at least an 18 to 24-inch drum or bag to give those roots enough space. If you are planning to grow on a balcony, we first check your floor load capacity and sunlight angles, then set up the tree with bamboo staking so the Mumbai wind doesn't knock it over.
Why Fruit Trees Succeed in Containers
Growing fruit trees in containers, or pot culture, is entirely possible if you select the right varieties. We always recommend grafted plants because they stay compact and start fruiting much sooner than those grown from seeds. Whether it is a terrace or a high-rise balcony, the principles are the same: sunlight, soil depth, and drainage.
Our Process
- Variety Selection: We choose grafted saplings like 'All-season' lemon, guava, or papaya, which thrive in our climate.
- The Right Home: We use UV-treated grow bags (100L-200L) or heavy-duty drums. These allow roots to breathe, unlike rigid plastic which can overheat.
- Soil and Nutrition: A fruit tree in a pot is entirely dependent on you for food. We use a mix of cocopeat, vermicompost, and organic amendments to keep the soil light but nutrient-rich.
- Wind Protection: Mumbai winds are no joke. We anchor trees with thick bamboo or pipe supports to prevent structural damage.
Common Questions
- Will it damage my waterproofing? We raise all heavy containers on bricks or stands. This keeps the base off the terrace floor, ensuring water flows freely to the drain and the waterproofing remains untouched.
- How soon can I harvest? With our grafted setups, you will see growth and budding much faster than you would expect.
- What about pests? We teach you organic fixes, using neem oil and natural methods, so you do not need to spray harmful chemicals where your food grows.
