From Concept to Creation: Our Design Process
For us, design is not a straight line. It is a messy, hands-on journey of sketches, models, and iterations, where we test every idea to ensure it truly belongs to its site.
A 3D printed part-model used to study the volumetric organization of a new public space. This type of model allows us to physically test and refine complex spatial arrangements and circulation patterns early in the design process.
The complete 3D printed model of 'The Arcades Project'. This physical representation helps us and our clients understand the building's overall form, its relationship to the ground, and how reinterpretations of familiar elements like arches create a new architectural language.
A study model being assembled in our studio. We use simple materials like cardboard to quickly create and test different wall configurations and spatial sequences, allowing for rapid design iteration.
Renderings of the 'House with Three Gables', an unbuilt project that remains an important exploration for our studio. The design features a sunken court and a dramatic gabled glass roof, creating a light-filled home that is deeply connected to its landscape.

About From Concept to Creation: Our Design Process
We believe that the best ideas emerge from the 'thinking hand', our process of sketching and physical model-making. Whether we are 3D printing a volumetric study for a public arena or hand-cutting cardboard to test wall configurations, these tools help us move beyond simple 2D drawings. This stage is crucial because it allows us to identify potential conflicts, test how natural light moves through a space, and refine exactly how a structure will feel before a single brick is laid on your site.
Testing Ideas Before Construction
Architecture is often presented as a polished final result, but the reality is a long series of experiments. In our studio, we use physical and digital models as a diagnostic tool. For projects like the 'Bounding Box' residence, we used iterations to figure out how to place a home atop a retail space without sacrificing light or privacy. By building these models, we see the relationship between the structure and the ground, and how it responds to the specific urban context of the neighborhood.
The Value of the Iterative Process
When you work with us, you are not just getting a blueprint; you are getting a process that prioritizes clarity. We find that many problems in construction stem from a lack of early-stage testing. Our approach includes:
- Volumetric Studies: Using 3D printing to understand how a building sits on a site.
- Material Mockups: Testing raw concrete, brick, or stone combinations in the studio before site execution.
- Site-Specific Planning: Analyzing gradients and sunlight paths to ensure your home or office remains cool and airy.
Why This Matters
Our goal is to create spaces that are structurally sound and deeply meaningful. Whether it is a contemporary home in Pune or a heritage restoration project in Belagavi, we do not believe in cookie-cutter designs. We iterate until the plan matches the vision. By the time we arrive at the construction phase, we have already solved the major design challenges, which keeps the process efficient and prevents unnecessary costs during the build.
