The Kannada invitation for the launch of my book, "Nrutya Beru." This publication is the result of many years of dedicated research into the folk dances of Karnataka.

About this collection

My research is never a solitary pursuit; it is a blend of field documentation, academic inquiry, and live demonstration. Whether I am writing, lecturing, or presenting at national seminars, my goal is to decode the complexities of Karnataka's folk forms—like Dollu Kunitha or Kamsale—making them accessible to students, institutions, and fellow researchers.

For me, folk dance is more than movement; it is a reservoir of history and cultural identity. My academic work is dedicated to documenting these intangible traditions before they are lost to time.

My Research Focus

  • Publications: My book, 'Nrutya Beru,' offers a comprehensive study of Karnataka’s folk dances in both Kannada and English. It is intended for scholars, enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to understand the socio-cultural roots of our region.
  • Academic Talks & Symposiums: I regularly present papers and lead lectures at institutions like the Indian Music Experience museum and various universities. I focus on topics like the 'Evolution of folk musical instruments' and the 'Cultural appropriation of folk dances in classical forms.'
  • Fieldwork: Authentic research requires visiting communities in their native environment. I travel to document rituals and festivals, gathering oral histories directly from the masters who keep these art forms alive.
  • Digital Repository: I am actively involved with 'Insieme Arti,' a digital journal dedicated to performing arts, providing a platform for scholars to publish their findings and foster global connections.

I offer my expertise to educational institutions and cultural organizations looking for authentic, research-backed insights into Indian folk heritage. If you are planning a symposium, a guest lecture series, or need scholarly support for your project, let’s connect.
