Frostbite: Custom Grillz and Jewellery Design
Frostbite is my creative lab where hip-hop attitude meets traditional Indian craftsmanship. We blend Zaveri Bazaar techniques with modern grillz to make something that's only yours.
DJing at the official launch party for my design lab, Frostbite. It was a proud moment to bring my two worlds of music and design together for a celebration at Slink & Bardot.
A close-up of my custom Frostbite USB drive. It’s a small detail, but branding matters, and this piece perfectly represents the fusion of my DJing and design work.
Another shot of the custom 'drip' style USB drive from Frostbite. This is an example of how I bring a unique aesthetic to every part of my craft, right down to the tools I use.
The official announcement for 'Frostbite Sounds,' a series of live sessions I curated. This event brought together live music and art, flipping the script on typical performances.
About Frostbite: Music Meets Design
Every piece starts with a conversation about your vibe. I work directly with Zaveri Bazaar artisans to apply traditional meenakari and jadau techniques to grillz, which is rarely done. It is a slow, iterative process because we do not mass-produce, but that is how we make sure the final result actually looks like you.
How Frostbite Started
Frostbite began as a lockdown dream. I wanted to see what would happen if I mixed the hip-hop swagger I grew up listening to with the traditional Indian jewelry that is part of my heritage. It was not about just making teeth gold; it was about convincing old-school karigars in the lanes of Zaveri Bazaar to try something fresh. When they saw the vision, their eyes lit up, and we started experimenting.
The Process
This is not a factory operation. When you reach out for a piece, we talk about your story. We look at designs, materials, and the level of detailing you want. Because we use techniques like meenakari (enamel work) and jadau (traditional stone setting), these pieces require precision. I handle the design conceptualization, and my team of artisans executes the work.
Why Grillz?
People think grillz are just for rappers, but for me, it is an extension of identity. I have even made pieces for my own family. It is about taking an overlooked street accessory and giving it the same respect and craftsmanship as a piece of heirloom jewelry.
If you want to start a design, just reach out. Let me know what you have in mind and we can figure out the feasibility.
Shrikesh Choksi
I am Shrikesh. When I am not behind the decks, I am at the lab with my karigars. I make grillz that blend hip-hop energy with the Indian jewelry I grew up seeing.
