For example, if you are planning to make pillar candles that need to hold their shape, simple soy wax will be too soft—you will need a soy-paraffin blend for that extra hardness. If you are just getting started and want something fast, Pearl Bead wax is a complete game-changer because it requires zero melting.
When you’re sourcing wax, the chemistry matters as much as the aesthetic. Pure soy wax chunks are my top recommendation for anyone working with containers; they offer a clean, slow burn and hold fragrance oils well. If you are shifting to pillar candles, however, you’ll find that 100% soy can be too soft. That’s where a soy-paraffin blend comes in, providing the structural integrity needed for freestanding shapes.
