About Sāttvatī School of Dance: Our Journey
Every batch at our school, whether in Banashankari, Jayanagar, or online, is built on the same foundation of guru-shishya parampara that I learned as a student. We prioritize technical discipline—posture, footwork, and rhythm—but balance this with plenty of masti to keep the joy of dance alive for everyone.
Our Approach to Kathak
Learning Kathak is a lifelong process, and my goal with Sāttvatī is to provide a space where that journey feels authentic. We don't just teach steps. We focus on the guru-shishya parampara, where the relationship between teacher and student is just as important as the choreography itself. Whether you are a total beginner or an intermediate dancer, we break down complex movements into manageable lessons so you can truly understand the rhythm, or tala, behind every spin.
Where We Teach
Our classes are designed to be accessible. We operate out of our main studio in Banashankari 6th Stage, with additional batches running in Jayanagar and Koramangala. For those who cannot make it in person, we have a robust online program that connects students from anywhere to the same curriculum we teach in the studio. You will find that our classes focus heavily on the basics of Kathak—correct posture, controlled footwork, and expressive storytelling—ensuring you build a strong foundation regardless of your location.
Moving from Studio to Stage
One of the most rewarding parts of our work is seeing students gain the confidence to perform. From our debut show 'Arambh' to community performances across Bangalore, we create opportunities for our students to experience the magic of the stage. My students are my kids, and watching them perform pieces we have practiced together—from Tarana to thematic mythological stories—is the highlight of my career. If you are looking to deepen your understanding of Indian classical dance or just want to start your own journey, I would love to help you take that first step.
