The Haldi: Capturing the Splash of Joy
Haldi is where the real, messy magic happens. I don't just photograph these moments; I find the laughter, the flower-petal chaos, and the quiet glances that make your story uniquely yours.

About The Haldi: A Splash of Joy
When I shoot a Haldi, I’m not looking for perfect symmetry. I’m looking for the moment the bride’s hair gets messy, the exact second the groom realizes he’s outnumbered, and that genuine, slightly frantic energy when everyone decides to empty the bucket of turmeric all at once. My approach is to be invisible, letting the real reactions unfold so you get memories that feel like a snapshot of how you actually felt, not just what you looked like.
The Haldi is deceptively simple. It looks like just yellow paint and laughter, but for a photographer, it is a masterclass in candid precision. Because this event involves constant, unpredictable movement—people throwing marigolds, water buckets flying, and guests dancing—I use my team to cover the angles you cannot see.
I shoot with flagship Nikon mirrorless gear, which allows us to capture those high-speed, raw moments in sharp detail without needing you to pause or pose. Whether we are shooting in a grand palace like The Oberoi Udaivilas or a cozy home backyard, the objective remains the same: document the emotion.
I often get asked about lighting. Haldi is typically outdoors during the day, which can be harsh. My team knows how to balance that sunlight so your skin tones look natural, not blown out. We focus on:
- The candid interactions: The siblings teasing the bride, the parents wiping away happy tears.
- The traditions: The Kaleerey rituals, the Choora ceremony, and the specific family customs that make your wedding unique.
- The details: The texture of the marigolds, the stains on the outfits, the messiness that tells the story.
My packages are designed to give you coverage for exactly this kind of energy. If you are planning an intimate ceremony, my two-person team is perfect for capturing the raw, quiet moments. For larger palace weddings where the energy is massive, I bring in my full 8-person crew to ensure no laugh goes uncaptured.
