Getting That Perfect Dark Mehendi Stain

Most people think a dark stain is just about keeping the henna on for a long time, but it starts way before that. Because I strictly avoid store-bought cones—which are often loaded with chemicals to force a color—I control exactly what goes on your skin.

My paste is fresh-mixed, and I use only natural ingredients that are safe for your skin. The process is simple, but it does require some patience.

The Timeline for the Perfect Stain

• Application: Once I finish the design, let the henna dry naturally. Avoid using a hair dryer.
• The Wait: Keep the henna on for at least 6 to 8 hours. The longer, the better.
• Removal: Scrape it off with a butter knife or your nails. Do not use water to wash it off.
• Oxidation: Keep water away from your hands for the first 24 hours. The color will start as bright orange and will deepen to a rich mahogany or maroon as it oxidizes.

If you want that deep stain for your wedding, I always suggest booking your mehendi application at least 48 hours before your main function. It gives the color those extra hours to really pop.
