Timeless Black and White Newborn Portraits
When we strip away color, we reveal the raw, quiet magic of your baby's first days. These monochrome portraits focus entirely on the tiny textures and emotional connections that make your family story unique.
The quiet magic between a mother and her newborn. A black and white portrait strips away everything but the soft light and even softer love.

About Timeless Black & White Portraits
In these sessions, we focus on lighting that accentuates soft newborn skin and natural expressions, completely free of props or distractions. It is a slow, patient process where we wait for those fleeting, sleepy yawns and quiet gazes, ensuring the resulting photos are as much about how you feel as how your baby looks.
Why choose monochrome for your newborn?
Color is beautiful, but sometimes it acts as a distraction. When we move to black and white, the noise fades away. You stop looking at the colors of the props or the background and start seeing the curve of your baby's eyelid, the strength in your partner's hands, or the way you naturally cradle your little one.
The process: Calm and unhurried
I never rush these shoots. Newborn photography requires patience, especially when we want to capture those authentic, fleeting expressions. Whether we are in my Gurugram studio or your home, the session pace is dictated by your baby's comfort. If they need a feed or a cuddle to settle down, we pause.
Technical approach
Black and white photography is not just about a filter. I shoot with a focus on light and shadow to create depth and texture.
- Lighting: I use natural window light or soft, directional studio light to highlight the delicate features of your newborn.
- Composition: I focus on macro details—tiny toes, wispy hair, and folded fingers—alongside wider, emotional shots of the family unit.
- Editing: I manually process each image to ensure the contrast is rich and the skin tones are smooth, creating a final piece of art that looks as good printed on your wall as it does on a screen.
When to book
The best time for these portraits is within your baby's first 14 days, when they are at their sleepiest and most curled-up. If you love the idea of timeless, emotional photography, feel free to reach out while you are still expecting so we can secure a date shortly after your delivery.
