About Ethereal & Ethnic
When styling for heavy ethnic wear like Kanjeevarams or deep velvet, the challenge is balancing the outfit's weight without masking your features. My process involves aggressive, camera-ready contouring—essential to prevent makeup from looking flat under heavy flash—coupled with skinimalism techniques that keep your skin looking breathable and radiant, not caked or layered.
The Ethnic and Ethereal aesthetic is about harmony. It requires more than just makeup; it is about architecture.
The Technique Behind the Look
My approach to bridal and traditional makeup focuses on longevity and structure. I utilize a 12-hour wear HD base, ensuring your look holds up through long ceremonies, humidity, and stage lighting. Using a professional kit mix—including MAC, PAC, and Forever52—I sculpt the face to ensure definition remains sharp in photographs, regardless of the lighting conditions.
Hair and Draping
A significant part of this look is the hair structure. Whether you need a traditional South Indian pool or a modern Hollywood wave, I handle the padding, crimping, and volume building to ensure the style complements your outfit. I also manage the technical side of the ensemble, from securing heavy Naths and Maang Tikkas with invisible thread to pinning Nauvari or heavy double-dupatta Lehengas so they stay secure while you move.
