Love the look of succulents but struggle to keep them alive? Here is the secret: give them the sun they crave. Let us match your brightest corners with the right variety.

Succulents really do thrive on neglect. This succulent bowl we made for a client a few years ago is still doing great with minimal watering and care. They are the perfect companions for urban gardeners with sunny balconies.

I love these unique pocket planters holding a variety of succulents. It shows how you can get creative with your arrangements, using different textures and trailing plants like the String of Pearls and Burro's Tail.

A beautiful succulent arrangement in a rustic wicker basket. We've mixed different types like Echeverias, Sedums, and even a small Snake Plant, using pebbles as a top dressing to complete the look.

Be careful when you go plant shopping. Some nurseries might sell you succulents and anthuriums in the same pot, which is a terrible combination. Succulents need full sun, while anthuriums will burn. I can help you make informed choices.

The Bear's Paw succulent (Cotyledon tomentosa) is one of my favorites. Its fuzzy, chubby leaves with little "claws" at the tips are just so adorable. It's a must-have for any succulent collector.

This trailing succulent, likely a type of Sedum, has developed beautiful peachy-orange stress colors from getting lots of sun. It's amazing how they change and adapt to their environment.

A cute little Jade plant in a simple, sky-blue ceramic pot. Jade plants are considered symbols of good luck and are incredibly easy to grow, making them a perfect gift.

About Sun-Kissed Succulents

If you are heading to a nursery, here is a golden rule: never let them sell you a Jade plant and an Anthurium in the same pot. Succulents are desert dwellers that need intense direct sunlight, while humidity-loving plants like Anthuriums will just burn and rot in that setup. I see this mismatch all the time, and it is the fastest way to kill your new green buddies before they even get a chance to settle.
