About this collection
The secret to a perfect Anarkali is not just the fabric, it is the structure underneath. I use high-quality can-can mesh and precise canvas reinforcement to ensure that signature 4 to 5 meter flare holds its shape through every spin. If you are picking a set for a long event, we can adjust the volume and the weight of the hand-embroidery so you feel comfortable, not weighed down, throughout the celebration.
Anarkalis and suit sets are a staple for a reason. They offer a level of grace and ease that is hard to find elsewhere. At my atelier, I focus on making these classic silhouettes work for you, whether you are dressing for a festive puja or a busy wedding season.
Process and Materials
I work primarily with fabrics like Moonga silk, Chanderi, and cotton satin. These are chosen for their natural drape and breathability. For the embellishments, I steer clear of mass-produced patches. Instead, we use traditional techniques such as Dabka, French knots, Zardosi, and Katdana. Every pearl is hand-placed, and the gota work is finished by hand to ensure it sits flat against the fabric.
Customization
When we design a set together, we start with your vision. You might prefer the sharp structure of a corset-style bodice to give the Anarkali a modern edge, or you might want the traditional comfort of a mul-mul set for a daytime event. Because I handle everything from sketching to the final fit in my Hauz Khas studio, we have complete control over details like sleeve length, dupatta weight, and the exact volume of the flare.
Common Questions
- How long does it take? Creating a custom piece is a conversation, not a transaction. I prefer to have enough time for at least one or two fitting sessions to ensure the tailoring is precise.
- Can I choose my own colors? Absolutely. We can source specific shades of georgette or silk to match your event theme.
- What about the sizing? Since everything is made from scratch, we get the fit perfect for your body type, which eliminates off-the-rack compromises.
Aarriya's Atelier
I am Payal, and I started this atelier to move away from generic, off-the-rack fashion. I believe clothes should feel like an extension of your own story, not just a trend. When I am not sketching or working with embroidery, I am usually looking for inspiration from my daughter, Aarriya, who keeps me constantly thinking about new, joyful designs.
