Here’s a look at the case file for my Crime Scene Investigation themed birthday party. Kids aged 8 and up get to solve a burglary by examining suspects and using five different forensic methods to crack the case.

About CSI: Detective Academy
We bring the entire crime scene to your venue—yellow tape, clues, and evidence kits included. This activity is designed for ages 8 and up, focusing on team-based problem solving. Kids use actual forensic methods like fingerprint dusting, footprint analysis, and secret message decoding. We provide all the gear, including magnifying glasses and lab coats, so you do not need to arrange anything other than the space.
How We Run The Investigation
This isn't just a game; it is a collaborative science mission. We start by setting the scene: a 'burglary' has occurred, and the young detectives are the only ones who can crack the case.
What the kids do:
- Fingerprint Analysis: They learn to dust for prints and match them to our 'silly suspects.'
- Evidence Collection: Using magnifying glasses and tweezers, they hunt for clues left behind at the scene.
- Secret Codes: They decode invisible ink messages using chemistry.
- Lab Testing: They use simple chemical reactions to test 'evidence' (powders and liquids) to confirm their theories.
