Using ropes, blocks, and chairs is not about making yoga easier, but about understanding the body with intelligence. Join these sessions to refine your alignment and deepen your practice through guided, prop-assisted techniques.

A look back at our Yoga Kurunta (rope yoga) workshop. Using the wall ropes allows for incredible support in poses like Downward-Facing Dog and inversions, helping to decompress the spine and find better alignment.

This video shows various ways we use props in my workshops. From chair-assisted inversions to using bolsters for restorative poses, props help us explore postures with safety and precision.

A glimpse into my arm balance and inversion workshop in Pune. We used blocks to build confidence and find the correct engagement for Bakasana (Crow Pose).

A weekend workshop focused on inversions using chairs. This method, inspired by Iyengar yoga, provides a safe and stable way to experience the benefits of being upside down, like in this supported headstand.

The end of a prop-assisted workshop, with students resting in a supported backbend using blocks. This restorative setup helps to open the chest and calm the nervous system.

About Alignment & Prop-Assisted Workshops

These workshops are not about holding a pose just to say you did it. Whether we are using wall ropes for spinal traction or chairs to stabilize an inversion, the focus is entirely on your anatomy. If you have been struggling to find depth in your practice or are nervous about inversions, these sessions offer the specific, tactile feedback you need to move safely. You will learn to use props to create space where there was tightness, turning your practice into an intelligent conversation with your own body.

Why Props Matter

The common misconception is that props are crutches. In reality, they are magnifying glasses for your alignment. When I guide a workshop using wall ropes or blocks, we are essentially breaking down the mechanics of a pose. This is the essence of Yoga Kurunta, using the environment to support your body so you can observe the subtle shifts in your muscles and breath.

What to Expect

My workshops in Mumbai, often held at spaces like Eclipse Wellbeing, are designed for anyone feeling stuck. If you find your Downward-Facing Dog lacking ease or your inversions feeling unstable, we strip the practice back. We use the wall ropes to provide traction, decompressing the spine, and metal chairs to build the confidence needed for headstands or backbends.

Safety and Personalization

These are not large-scale classes where you get lost in the crowd. I cap these sessions at 12 to 15 students to ensure that everyone gets hands-on adjustments. My approach is rooted in Hatha and Iyengar-inspired techniques, meaning we prioritize safety and anatomy over aesthetic perfection. We address common roadblocks like stiff hips or tight shoulders by working with the prop, not fighting against your own limitations. Whether you are a student looking to refine your basics or a teacher aiming to understand sequencing through a more technical lens, this is a space to explore, fail, and learn with patience.

I stumbled from a media job onto the mat, and I never really left. For me, yoga is not about chasing the perfect shape; it is about listening to the body’s quiet signals. I love guiding these workshops because it allows us to slow down, use props, and actually learn how our bodies want to move.
